Which Weight Distribution Hitch To Purchase

I have on order a 2020 Rockwood Mini Lite model 2109S and expect it to arrive within the next two weeks. According to the Brochure
Tongue wt 412
unloaded wt4171
fresh water cap 58 gal
cargo capacity is 1521

So, that rounds out to be about 6000lbs towing and close to 600lbs or better on the tongue wt.
I talked with etrailer and they said the Reese Steadi-Flex with Sway Control which is 6K GTW and 600TW.

I think the tongue weight will be greater than 600lbs
If you take the GTW of 6000 and 15% of that is 900
12% is 720lbs.

I would appreciate your thoughts. Would like to stay with Reese

I will be pulling with a 2013 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab and 3:42 RE and 5.3 eng
  • E2 with 800 or 1000 pound bars, the head is universal so if you find the bars you ordered it with are are too far off you can buy the other set for not too much money (though when I needed a replacement bar they weren't in stock anywhere so there was a few days delay getting them from the manufacturer). Unless you're going to load it to the max the 800 should be fine (I'm honestly not sure how you'd fit 1,500 pounds in such a small trailer)
  • The 600s will be under rated for the tongue weight once you load up. Go with the 800lbs bars.
  • It appears the 1,000 lb tongue weight Steadyflex is recommended for tongue weights of 500 lbs to 1,000 lbs. If it were me, I'd go that route.
  • I just picked up a similar sized trailer with a fairly similar tv. I got the Fastway E2 trunnion straight bar 800 lb and seems very well built and towed great. It’s about $400 on amazon, etrailer will match that price also.
  • #1000 WD bars on a 17 year old EAZ-lift setup with the same 17 year old #5000 GVWR TT that I've owed since day one and works great for me...

I have about a #650 TW with too much stuff in the bed and as I said, works great for me..

    Good luck!

  • 600 is going to likely be to light. to the empty tongue weight ad the weight of propane (30-60lbs) battery(s) 60-120 lbs and your already near 600 lbs.

I'd go with 1000lb bars, Reese has a chart of weight range for bars and IIRC 1000lb bars would cover 600-1000lbs.
  • I got Recurve R3 for a similar size trailer. It's AWESOME. I do wish I had purchased the R6 for it's on off switch for the sway control.
  • Thanks for all of the valuable input. I have decided to go with the Reese Steadtflex with the 1000 Tongue weight and 10000 Trailer weight.
