Just a quick note of support for your squared away approach to this big decision. FWIW, I agree 100% with you. We may be in the market for a new rig in a few years and I don't want any slides either.
To each their own though. One day I was looking at some rigs at a local dealer and mentioned to him I didn't want a side and the reasons for that (huge hole in the side of the rig that will eventually leak.... Will not if..... More moving parts to go bad, etc).
The salesman actually agreed with me and said "yes trailers with slides are more leak prone and a lot of them do leak."
Like you we go camping to enjoy the outdoors and not hang out inside the camper. It's hard enough to keep water out of these rigs, I don't need another area to worry about.
Again to each their own. These are just my thoughts and note of support for you. The slides sure do open things up, no question so I understand why folks like them and that's great too.
I have heard lots of good things about Jayco so I will definitely check one out when the time comes. 2yr warranty is nice for sure. Good luck in your search.
As an aside I also prefer aluminum roofs over rubber roofs. Does any manufacturer offer aluminum as an option for roofs anymore? This is one reason why I own a rig the vintage I do (one piece aluminum roof)
Our 21 RBS is all aluminum; including the roof.
