The 6.7 PSD, the Torque Shift transmission, and DEF in '12 wrapped around a proven platform is what sold me on the Ford over Ram's 6.7 CTD, 68rfe transmission and non DEF.
On our farm/ranch our Ford Super Duty's just hold up better than the Ram's from engines, transmissions, front end components, dashboards, seats just to name a few. The Fords just cost us less to keep running. We have not purchased any Chevy trucks since the '90's but it's not because they're a bad truck.
Also another issue for me is the Ford truck is assembled in the USA while Ram shut down it's factory in Missouri and told those good folks to pound sand is now assembled in Mexico and is now a foreign owned company Fiat as part of the bail out.
My cousin is a diesel/truck mechanic since '93 and has been working in the Chrysler shop. His feedback is the Ford's just don't have the repairs like they did when the 6.0/6.4 trucks where the mainstream so there's just not the repair activity like it used to be. Also he also mentions he misses the Ford garage as warranty repair was pretty much left to the techs (except the electric folding mirror), whereas the Fiat warranty approval process requires a bunch of red tape.
My '12 6.7 Power Stroke is now 5 years old with 120k miles. The only repair to date has been a Nox sensor. The exterior/paint still looks like new, the interior is still solid with now rattles, the leather seats comfort is second to non still looks like a jewel. Fuel economy for this truck still maintains 16.4-20 mpg like it did when new, pulls our camper, boat, utility trailer/tractor shredder like a train. It also hasn't had a single safety recall unlike the rams been plagued with.
It's a jewel of a truck... :B
BTW... I'm certain the ram mafia will not like what I wrote, but it is.. what it is... :W
