I had no trouble with the Dana axles in my '95, 98 and 2001.5 Cummins Rams. The '03 developed a nasty driveline vibe at around 35k miles as did the '05 Hemi powered 2500HD. Both chewed up their AAM differential carrier bearings before 100k miles. Both rebuilt. Cured the gravel noise but the vibe continued. Chrysler swapped the driveshaft in the '03. Performance shop balanced it. No cure. In December 2009 I found the cure. That's all the proof I need.
All five Rams had to have an a/c evaporator replaced as well. Chrysler designed the evaporator to sit in it's own muck that eats through the coils on the bottom. Might not be a problem in the desert. Found the cure for that too.
