I bought a new 2016 Ford F250 this last February. I had a Chevy truck once; it was in the dealer’s garage more than it was in mine. After the Chev truck came a 2005 Dodge with the Cummins in it. After a 169000 miles on it the interior was getting soft, did I mention THREE transmissions? So comparing the Chevy and the Dodge to two previous Fords I owned I went back to the Ford. Now—the Ford pulls our fithwheel like it’s hardly back there. The 6 speed automatic has its own water cooling system. No more high temps. With only 4500 miles on the ford the MPGs are approaching the Dodges figures. After I get 100000 miles on the Ford I can tell if it’s a good truck--but it is looking good so far.

The new Fords have a very good transmission in the torque shift as does RAM if you option for the Aisin HD transmission. All three of the latest vintage offerings are miles ahead of the 2005 RAM with a 48RE tranny. They are all 6 speeds now.
