I don't know anyone on here that tows West Coast and tows heavier than I do at 35k range combined when towing doubles and 34k just the 5er. I honestly don't see the need for more gears. I can be setting on a steep hill and take off with ease having 4.10's and the AISIN. I can tow on flat to hilly terrain in 6th and when it needs to drop a gear it only increases the rpm's a small amount.
So when would more gears make a difference???
Tale off from a stop? NOPE
Freeway speeds? HE!! no!
Climbing grades and accelerating to get on the Freeway? Maybe some, but how much time is that???
Would I trade the "True Medium Duty" AISIN that is well known to be "Bullet Proof" for two or four more gears??? HE!! NO!!!!!
OH yea I have the weak 365hp/865tq engine. So the more gears argument is even less relevant with the much higher HP/TQ in the new RAM's.
So when would more gears make a difference???
