I honestly wasn't expecting the 10 speed to be as big of a deal as it turned out to be. I was told of the seamless shifting, no dead pedal and so forth. Having an '18 with a 6 speed parked next to the '20 with a 10 speed, makes the comparison very evident. Assuming it holds up, and I have yet to read anything that suggests it wont, it makes a good pickup, even better and in the Duramax, a lot better in my view. While the torque rise is not the same between the V-8 diesels as it is the straight 6, I suspect that if your happy with a 6 speed Cummins, you would be more happy with the 10 speed. My Class 8 trucks have had and currently have 18 speed Eaton's whenever possible. It is great having gearing options in big trucks, I now feel the same way about the class 3 trucks. If your a 10 speed nonbeliever, consider driving one, even better is to pull with one. The Ford is probably good as well I have never driven one, but I can speak to the GM version.
