Still not sure where you’re going with this 4x other than to watch the banter.
We (I, anyways) understand the theory. And you can’t fool physics, but just because the big C will pull less gears better than the V engines doesn’t mean it won’t do better with more cogs.
I too can compare the big C 4, 5 and 6 speeds. Except for the Aisin. Haven’t towed with one. But I agree HO/Aisin/ 4.10 will eat road with anything you can hook to it legally.
4 speed auto = hot garbage for towing. Far too big of gear splits unless the engine is hopped up to pull itself out of the hole better after an up shift.
5 speed. It’s like a 4.5 speed but a bit better because you can control the shifting.
6 speed manual. Again it’s like a 5.5 speed due to granny gears, either manual trans, but day and night better than a 47/48re.
68rfe is basically 1 gear better than a G56 because the gear splits are a bit better. Despite it shifting like garbage and all the lock unlock dances the TQ converter does (drives me nuts).
But locked rpms to locked rpms it would still benefit with shorter gear splits. Period.
If I had to buy a Ram it would have the slow shifting Aisin. Not the 68 I have now. I didn’t even want that pos trans but it came to me as a can’t pass it up deal.
