The Duramax lacks torque to compete with the Cummins
The Cummins lacks HP and gears to keep up with the Duramax.... but, you're right the Cummins has torque. With 1075 lbft of torque, more gears is of little value, so the lower HP Cummins is very comparable to the higher power Duramax with more gears.
