Why the hard feelings about the 6.0 Chevy?

So been doing a lot of research and reading because my towing has been relegated to my 2010 Suburban 2500. Yes it has the 6.0 which, IMO, runs pretty good, and tows fairly well too. Again, IMO, the engine runs better after tuning, mainly due to TM and shift patterns more than anything else.
This engine, especially in the 2010 model, has the VVT and runs hard and pulls hard all the way through the powerband. It has more HP but just a little less torque than my dad's old 1994 Suburban with the 7.4L 454. I know the peak torque occurs in different places between these two engines but I don't have any trouble taking off and accelerating under a load.
So why all the negative about how this engine runs and tows? Yeah it drinks some gas, but most all gas tow vehicles do. It definitely doesn't tow like my Cummins but again, it is a gas powered truck.
I guess if you are looking at it in stock form you might be disappointed, especially since GM uses TM to a crippling effect and doesn't offer good tow gearing anymore. But I know what potential there is in this package. Am I the only one who thinks this way?
