One thing I've learned in my old age is that a married couple does fine if they learn to enjoy and respect separate hobbies.
How fun will camping BE if wifey goes and is unhappy the whole time? If they can work it out that she's not offended when hub and dog go off camping/fishing without her then more power to them.
Maybe she's into something different (quilting/painting?) and hubby can support her interests that may be in a different direction as a trade off.
Sometimes it's just an endless feud and then people can agree to go different ways. We (my hub and I) are on our second marriages and also in our golden years. We both feel we better enjoy the things we want to before some *&#@&^%^ unavoidable health crash side lines us for good.
Life is short and very uncertain... better enjoy it while you can. Preferably together...but if not.. then so be it.
