Window Boot

We have a small throw rug that we put over rubber boot to protect the rubber on ours.

It will not only wear away the paint on the camper but will the truck also

Try one of those collapsible hampers with the coiled wire built in the fabric. Cut out the bottom end the install some carpeting on the bottom so the cat nails won't tear the bottom of the hamper. Support hamper as needed. It would look like a tunnel that would fit inside the window openings of the truck and TC. Did something for our cat but the distance was only six inches from truck to camper.

Don't people use regular boots anymore? I use to have a leather boot that snapped to the inside of the camper and the truck, worked great. Granted if you want to take your camper off, that's a problem.Mine was big enough my German Shepard would just drape his paws over the edge and hang out with us going down the road.

I have a nice Naugahyde(?) covered foam boot that I got with my Northstar.

Thanks for the replies. I will try to find a commercially available boot, but I am afraid the difference in window locations might make that hard to find. My TC's window is smaller, located higher up and 2" to one side of my truck's rear window.
I will look for a hamper as you described. Will see how that might work.
Anyways, I will find a way of making the cat tunnel. What we go through for our pets!!!

I have only about 6 or 7 inches between the windows, the common area of the two amounts to only about 9 inches tall and 6 wide (TC window high and offset to passenger side). I made a boot out of two layers of 4" foam. Just for the cat. On the previous TC it was a bit further, I made part of the tunnel out of plywood and hard mounted that to the camper. The flexible part only needs to be 4" or so to accommodate movement. The tunnel had a flange on the truck end so that foam could seal between the flange and the fixed part of the truck window. The tunnel itself had a bit of slope and offset in it to match up the misalignment of the TC window. I wanted to be able to close either window at any time to keep the cat here or there, so I kept the foam off the moving parts of the windows.

If you are worried about the paint, find someone who installs the 3M invisible rock shield "car bra" type of material. This can be had in sheets, is removable in the future without damage, and very tough. Have it placed anywhere you think will get touched. It is stuck to the paint with an adhesive, and won't allow grit or dirt between - which is what does the damage. It can be stretched around curves and cut tightly against window gaskets, clearance lights, etc.

Now that is some good information. I will look for some of that 3M product. We even thought of using some sort of industrial grade plastic wrap (we have seen new cars being hauled with plastic wrap on them).

I will probably will not make the best looking tunnel for the cats, but at least they can travel with us.

This is the stuff. There are usually people who will come around to your location and install it from a roll, also available in precut pieces for most any car - but that won't help for what you want to do. I'm sure with a little searching you can find it on the internet. It isn't hard to install yourself, but there are a few tricks to learn, and its is relatively expensive to experiment with. That's why for a limited area one-off, getting someone familiar with it might be best.
