Wiring two batteries together

My guess is the battery is bad, even if only 2 years old or you have more draw than you think..

Check to make sure if your fridge has a switch that helps keep the moisture down that it's turned OFF. It runs on 12v and is not necessary, especially when running off only the battery.

Check that the tv antenna booster switch is OFF. This also draws 12v power. What is your other 12v electric uses? Lights, furnace blower, radio?

Battery charger is better. The link I sent out can provide a charger that also de-sulfates and reconditions your batteries as needed. Increase performance and life. I always use a charger.

Would plugging the generator into my tt or a seperate battery charger be better? Thought just plugging the generator into the shore power plug would work ok. Guess I never thought of using a battery charger would be more effecient?

You might want to consider a good battery charger. Charging directly off the generator is really hit or miss. http://www.schumacherbatterycharger.com/ is a good place to start.

And if you want more to read on this there is a 10 page thread on batteries. I have read it and talked to our local all they do is batteries store. Came to the conclusion that 2 six volt batteries (I got US brand) will work the best in my application 28'Shadow Cruiser. I all so orderd a Ryobi 2200w generator from HomeDepot online for $599.00 to keep those batteries charged above 50%. O and a gallon of distilled water to keep the batteries maintained.

If going with 2 6 volts batteries connect them in series. Positive to negative, positive to negative. That way you have 12 volts with more ampere hours.

This is not necessarily true. Two group 29 12 volt may provide more amp-hours. If a large inverter (1000 watts and up) is to be used twelve volt jars may work better.

Life span is often more a function of how the battery bank is treated--especially in the area of charging.

I doubt the problem is your water pump. I will toss out some hypothetical numbers;
Maximum pump draw will be around 8 amps.
Maximum pump flow may be 3.5 gallons per minute.
A fifty gallon tank would take 14.3 minutes to empty.
A draw of 8 amps for 14.3 minutes means a total draw of only 2 amps from your battery.
The smallest rv/marine battery (group 24) should have around 80 amp hour capacity. Two amps from that total of 80 is nothing.

Two yo battery is drained quickly with the pump? Either it is not charged or the battery is shot. First focus on your care, maintenance, charging and usage to discover how you killed a battery in two years. It is just as easy to kill multiple batteries.

Lead acid likes to stay at 100% charged when ever possible. Especially in storage.
During use you should try not to go much below 50% discharged and especially not below 80% discharged.
Charging the battery should have voltage up close to 14.2 to 14.8 for a few hours. In storage 13.2 to 13.5 is best.

You might benefit from an upgraded converter. Otherwise try to express what can be improved or what may have happened to kill the existing battery.
