- AcampingwewillgExplorer IIAgreed .....enough already!
- dadmomhExplorerWell, a sunny camping weekend and I see this thread is still alive and well. I must admit that I'm glad to see a different slant than earlier. You betcha, we're dog people and very proud of it. Would also be cat people except for the dogs. I think folks that believe that a high-tech gadget will solve the problem, vs some that appear to really not give a hoot either way have not been swayed. There have been some valid suggestions and some of the dumbest ever heard. Mod.....would you PLEASE put this thread out of it's misery? 8 pages of anger and frustration seems to have pretty much covered it.
- PAThwackerExplorerI camp in shaded sites and have a hybrid. Use gizmos and open up the bed tents if we can't run the AC.
- MKirklandExplorerWhat maintenance should be done on a yearly basis to the AC?
- Passin_ThruExplorerOur dog didn't cook but she threw a keg party while we were out. Something about opposable thumbs keeps them from flipping burgers and steak. Besides they like raw meat. Leave them out in the shade.
- AcampingwewillgExplorer III didn't accuse you have anything my rv'ing friend, I only took what you said literally( you not being responsible for someone else's pet)....that's all fine and dandy until its applied to the real world! IMO. There are some here that would watch your Rv burn and complain about the smoke. I too, have been of this forum long enough to have heard it all( since 2002)..there is plenty of negativity to go around when it comes to pets and rv'ing.....I just happen to be a responsible pet owner and an advocate for them, I take offense to the constant garbage talk about all dogs and all owners. That's where I'm coming from....so I will apologize if you or anyone was offended by my remarks. Good day sir!

Some are not worth responding too....I don't place the responsibility of my pets on anyone except myself. Many nay sayers simply believe all dogs bark, all owners are irresponsible so ill match your 40 years with my own! For 35 of those years we've traveled with dogs, and yes, that includes tent camping. The whole idea of this thread was to suggest ways to come as close to assuring the well being of pets hence the suggestions of cellular based temp alarms, web based heat alarms and any other means to gain a bit of confidence in leaving the pets for a determined set of time.
I would have no greater expectation of any of my fellow RV'ers doing anything about a power outage for my dogs sake opposed to the same group of rv'ers watching the Rv burn to the ground knowing that dogs were inside. Some rv'ers think of no one or any living thing But themselves....Pet people tend to gravitate towards like minded groups...those that travel with pets! Soo don't worry your weary little heads, I for one wouldn't think of asking a non pet owning neighbor picking up a phone to help out another rv'er. My Gawd!
First, I never stated that "all" dogs bark nor that all dog owners are irresponsible. I base my observations from my own experience dealing with some that are.
Second, others, including myself, do take responsibility for unattended pets. It is the humane thing to do for any living creature. In fact, we had a coach burn in my park a few months ago due to a defective Norcold fridge. The first thing us non-dog owners did was force open the door to be sure no one was inside including pets. One doesn't need to be a "pet person" to have a heart.
So before you accuse anyone, especially me, of thinking only of myself, know who you are dealing with first, sir. Those that know me here for the many years I have been posting, know of my integrity and concern for others including pets.
Now "Gawd" you have yourself a nice day. :R - westendExplorer

IMO, I'm also responsible for about how I think of others, whether they have pets or not.
And Mike, that's a classic! LOL - Mike_LAExplorer
Worried about a/c failing and dogs cooking
Back in the old days, we had no a/c. That didn't stop the dog from cooking. :B - AcampingwewillgExplorer IISome are not worth responding too....I don't place the responsibility of my pets on anyone except myself.
