Surely if the owner says their dog NEVER barks, they MUST be right, right???
That's a rude comment! You have no idea about my dogs or me. I shouldn't have to have my thread highjacked and have to answer for my dogs that don't bark.
Are you really sure my dogs bark? I did a time lapse video of them once and posted it on youtube. They were at home but there's plenty of noises there too. The camper is just a second home to them. Want to watch it? If you do, watch the clock on the wall. Then tell me they bark.

OH! Almost forgot. One of them is deaf now so make all the noise you want she isn't going to bark at you!!!!
Dogs bark primarily out of boredom, especially when left alone. How would you know if you're not there?
I know it is old technology, but voice activated recorders work well to determine if the dog is barking in our absence. I will not train out an occasional bark.
If you are in a campground that allows dogs, you will hear an occasional bark. To expect otherwise is unreasonable.
Barking continuously? That is another story. - fallsriderExplorerRegardless of others' opinions, my opinion is that it is not worth it on a hot day. If your a/c unit fails or a breaker trips, the park office isn't going to know that. TTs and RVs heat up quick without a/c. If it is a cooler day, then the risk is very different. JMHO
- tshirtmanExplorerIt not humane and also dis-respectful to other rv'ers to leave your dog in your trailer un-attended. Many park and campgrounds have rules against this type of behavior. If you don't want to camp with your pet then leave them home at a boarding facility that they are taken care of.
Barking dogs unattended is grounds for eviction at many parks. - fatboy66Explorer

You just gotta love someone who knows everything there is to know about YOUR dogs! As I've stated, for the past 20 years we have traveled with 3-5 dogs, from collies to spaniels.... Never have we had issues with neighbors, never have we been asked to leave... Can't explain why someone who knows so much seems to have such an ear for a barking dog....but then again, some people aren't happy unless their's something to complain about. - AcampingwewillgExplorer IIYou just gotta love someone who knows everything there is to know about YOUR dogs! I always worry about my a/c failing while we're out and the dogs cooking in the camper. The campground could lose power or any number of things could cause the a/c to fail. Do you worry when you're gone about pets? Any ideas?
IMO a closed up car is WAY DIFFERENT than say a 30' trailer and I highly doubt a pet would perish in a trailer even in 100deg weather as long as they have a sufficient supply of water and they aren't exposed for more than like 4 to 6 hours. Yes it's going to get hot, but with water animals can tolerate a fair amount of heat. You could leave a couple of roof vents partially open and that alone should provide sufficient ventillation thus I don't worry about this.

Not true :)
Not going to jump into this debate other than to say, I bring my 100 lb. dogs everywhere and leave them in TT all the time. No problems and typically have never had to worry about AC since we travel in the fall/winter. However, I like peace of mind so have been hunting for the best solution to 'keep an eye' on thing. I'm testing Valarm app. Has some built in sensors along with external sensors. I like the fact that I can monitor temp as well as Sound. Will even take a pic or video if you want. See post http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/27908244.cfm
This bit from your other post seems to agree with what the other poster has said about unattended dogs barking, though:
"Works great, if the dogs bark, I get notified. Once back, I can check the saved sound files to hear what was really going on. So, an occasional single bark and every now and then both barking at something (kids across street or loud truck passing)." - Bucky_BadgerExplorer

No intention to be rude, only honest. If you substitute the word "child" for "dog", most likely you could not be so sure. Try "teenager".
I am not sure your dogs bark, but I am sure that your dogs are capable of barking given the right set of circumstances. Equally sure that most dog owners who are confronted by the ranger asking them to leave because their dog raised a ruckus and they had complaints would be mad, it would ruin an otherwise good weekend and they would adamantly declare that their dog does not bark.
We've had many, many dogs and I am probably more oblivious to the sound of barking dogs than some folks. Suggest you ask your vet if there is a way an owner can be absolutely sure their dog won't bark given the right stimuli.
Kids scream, dogs bark, fire has smoke, lights left on all night, diesels idling for 30 mins....I could go on. - dadmomhExplorerNo intention to be rude, only honest. If you substitute the word "child" for "dog", most likely you could not be so sure. Try "teenager".
