For that price I'd buy one to carry and keep the Champ 2000 at home for emergency backup. Trouble is, we're on the Oregon Coast and Costco is 100 miles away. I'll check and see if I can get one and pick it up Wednesday or Thursday. Probably in store only.
Chances are you will not find the generator there.
Costco is switching big items sales to shipping and very often shipping is free.
For this generator they quote me $9 shipping.
Sure worth comparing to fuel you'd have to burn to pick it up.
2-day shipping is $38 - jimh406Explorer III

Juice is juice in my view.
Until you want to start a AC then max surge allowed matters and the Honda wins. - D_E_BishopExplorerFor that price I'd buy one to carry and keep the Champ 2000 at home for emergency backup. There is a huge difference between cheap and expensive inverters, I would imagine there is a similar difference in these. I also find it a bit deceiving to have "Yamaha" in such large script, with "powered" in small.
There is for sure and there also are a slew of different generators out there that advertise they have a Honda engine also...
I learned a long time ago with generators, and I have owned a bunch of them, you get what you pay for! - Kayteg1Explorer II

That is how the market works.
Still remember Chevy Suburban add from over 20 years ago.
"The best in its class"
The number of vehicles in the class???? ............ONE.
Talking about no-name engines. The one I bought with Sportsman generator, might be not the easiest to start, but runs smoothly and it did power my big screen + modems + chargers for 1/2 a day on couple cups of fuel.
Might not last for 20 years like Honda, but good enough for back-up applications. - Chris_BryantExplorer IIThere is a huge difference between cheap and expensive inverters, I would imagine there is a similar difference in these. - jaycocreekExplorer IIYa, it's an AI engine and it's 65db..I didn't read through it. I'll stick with my Honda's.good price though for an inverter gen.
I've had Yamaha and Honda generators and I'm 100% Yamaha on everything except generators.. In my opinion the Honda is just a more reliable and longer lasting engine in generators. - Kayteg1Explorer II

They are $369 at Newegg on sale for a few more days.
AI 2000 gen set for $369 on sale
Looks like this is the same generator with no-name engine.
I'd spend extra $100 for Yamaha.
Nice detail that generator will burn excess fuel from carburetor before shut down. - jaycocreekExplorer II

Just was at Costco and always looking for the deal. Yamaha 2000W (1600W continuous) generator for $499.00. That's the best price I've seen on this by about $200. Have they come down that much or is Costco running one of those once-and-done deals?

AI 2000 gen set for $369 on sale - pnicholsExplorer IIFor what it's worth, on every one of our RV trips along with the built-in Onan generator we carry along a little portable Honda generator that's at least 28 years old.
It's a Honda EX650 650 watt generator in excellent condition. It starts on the 1st pull after sitting for months or years and doesn't care whether it's burning pure gas or ethanol gas. It charges batteries or runs small appliances in our RV for around 5 hours on 1/2 gallon of gas.
You can still see them on eBay in various conditions usually for $200 - $300 and they make a great little backup RV generator that runs super quiet at a constant 54 dB sound level regardless of how heavily it's loaded.
Just something inexpensive and reliable to consider for other than powering microwaves or air conditioners.
