- Sandia_ManExplorer IIWife will never go for a diesel, and since 2014/2015 gassers (see Ram 6.4 with 4.10) are capable of pulling what diesels did just a few years back, our next truck will be a gasser. Won't be soon as current 3/4 ton gasser aptly tows our rig with no issues.
- jalichtyExplorerIf this is a towing vehicle and you have any plans to upgrade your towed outfit in the future, then I would think it would be a no-brainer, go with the diesel for more towing power, better mpg, etc. Especially if the prices are similar. You really don't "need" a lot of that fancy stuff, we bought a GPS for about $150 that takes us to the front door of every destination. Now, we do like the Sirius radio but can live without it and the OnStar is nice to have, but haven't really used it enough to justify the price. I would bet the diesel has an automatic transmission with some type of engine braking system, cruise control, etc. I got a bunch of that stuff, but that's because that's what the truck came with. But didn't get a GPS system or the back-up camera system, etc. Again, if you are planning on this being your towing mating with every-day driving, go for the diesel if it's close to the same price.
- OhhWellExplorerMe? I would pick a base model GASSER. I just couldn't pick either of your two options.
- Bionic_ManExplorerI love my loaded diesel. That said, if I was only towing your weight and not planning on upgrading, I would probably go with a loaded gasser.
- MinnCamperExplorerNot even close----DIESEL.

I've had the bells and whistles and went back to a basic truck.. I don't need a truck to argue with, my DW takes care of that so I don't need a truck that talks to me. I don't need my butt heated or air conditioned, the dogs would tear leather seats the first trip any way. I don't need electric folding mirrors or power seats either.. - jujububbajrExplorerI went from Diesel to gas and have not regretted it one minute. I just bought a 2014 crew cab 4.10 for $26500 with rebates and GM supplier discount. The 6 speed transmission makes a big difference. My TT weighs 9k lbs, but I only tow about 3k miles a year. If the majority of your miles are spent towing, a diesel may be a better choice. Do what works for you.
- Paul_ClancyExplorerDiesel for sure. The only reason I own a truck is to Rv tow. Yes it is a daily driver as well. I have never regretted getting my truck. It has just the right balance of features and function without any wasted outdated tech to look at and wonder why I spent the extra 10g.
- B_SjulestadExplorer IIDiesel over gasser anytime.
- parkersdadExplorerI just bought a Ram diesel work truck so I would say the diesel. I have had the loaded trucks and I never use half of that crap. In my mind a truck is supposed to be a truck and any of the brands work trucks are comfortable now. After driving them all I would recommend a Ram though.
