- transamz9ExplorerFor what you are going to pay for a loaded out gasser you can get a very well optioned diesel. I did this and have heated seat, 8.4 with NAV/SAT, back up camera, remote start and all. I personally don't like the leather but do like heated seats so that's what I got.
- goducks10ExplorerThat's exactly what I did. I bought a 12 Ram ST CTD 4x4 CC LB 3.73.
I got the chrome appearance group, carpet and power group. No power seats though. They're actually more comfortable than the power seats in the 10 F150 XLT I traded in. Tows our 9000lb 5'er better than any blinged out gasser would. Got $10,000 off MSRP OTD for $36,???. 45Ricochet wrote:

Seriously though any of the 3 brand of big gassers should do it.
Agreed... Any brand of gasser will handle the job.
In any brand... :h
- mtofell1ExplorerI've been shopping new trucks and am kind of tossing around the same dilemma. I use my truck as a daily driver 95% and tow 5% so for me it's the gas due to the nice HP/TQ #s and relatively good mpgs. I'm likely leaving my Duramax for the new Dodge 6.4. If I towed more often I might consider the diesel but I really liked the way the 6.4 drove. Much quicker off the line and just more spirited. Of course the diesel kicks butt up hills while towing but how often are you doing that? If it's a lot go for the diesel.... if not you'll be happy with the gas.
- FLY_4_FUNExplorerIf those were my only choices...I would opt for neither. If one is going to spend 40k-60k on a tow vehicle....and then not get EVERYTHING they want then why bother. I would save another year and get EXACTLY what I want.
Im hoping this is just a hypothetical question. I am the type to always factory order so I get the vehicle/rv that suits our needs.

If the gasser you are thinking of is a Ford 6.2 or Dodge 6.4. We have a Ford v10 towing over 9K lbs with 4.3 gears and love it. Now my truck is not a daily driver and its sole purpose is to tow.
- LowsuvExplorerDiesel.
Regardless of brand .
I have a duramax .
I purchased a new big block gasser about every 5 years from 1972 to 1997 .
In 2002 i bought my first diesel .
i still have it .
Ram has the best deals in my area .
I would rather have a plain Ram than a loaded F 150 . - gtsumExplorerNeither...loaded diesel is what I would go with and what I ordered last Friday:)
- bmanningExplorerI'll be the contrarian that votes loaded gas.
Diesels are great but IMO, with today's gas engines' output & durability I feel that the "need" for diesels starts around 11-12k loaded weight.
My F250 is an XLT & frankly I miss power seats, heated leather seats, dual zone climate, etc...just me, others could care less. I had loaded models & I've had lesser trim, from now on I'll go for the niceties every time. I actually prefer driving my 1999 Land Cruiser over my F250 due to much nicer seats & the ability to get the seat exactly where I want it (power adjustability).
