- garryk6ExplorerI have been posting my recent progress on the 1966 Avion HERE. THere are lots of pics of the progress, and I am hoping to have it funtional by this next weekend... That said, I am not sure what the definition of "functional" will be, but hopefully I'll figure that out too by the weekend.:B
Garry in Kodiak, AK - tilemantimExplorerOr it could be that fuel is sooo expensive here that it's cheaper to run a TC than a Motorhome/5er. I have a boat so I cant run a trailer, and I sold my motorhome because of the reason above...

Hi Buzzcut1,
I have a class A motor home that I travel and camp in at this time. Mostly weekend camping witha a couple two week trips a year. I have been searching for a truck camper to take my first extended trip out west in the spring of 2012. I live in south Louisiana. I have noticed in my searches that it appears that California has more truck campers for sale than any other state. Is this the preferred way to travel/camp in the west and if so why. Thanks in advance for your reply.
I have been debating if I should drive my motorhome (37 Allegro Bay) out west pulling my Jeep or purchase a Truck Camper. Hope you can help.
BTW, I have made a couple trips to Colorado Durango/Silverton area. Is the terrain any worst than that further west?
More Truck Campers... not sure why. We do have a lot of mountainous areas with narrow roads where a fiver or a big class A would be a pain
Many more spots where you can fit a TC in next to a river on a pullout and quite of few of the park roads and campgrounds have length limitations.
It could also just be that we have 38 million residents so you just have a large pool of buyers and sellers.... - Killin_TimeExplorerHi Buzzcut1,

Still trying to decide whether to stay at Sugarloaf state park or Skyline Wilderness Saturday night
- DianneOKExplorerWent into the winterized camper, checked everything to make sure she is ready, and patted her kindly. Assured her we would bring her back home in April for the jet boat races in Riggins.
So sad.....:(
BUT!!! the snowblower and shovels are ready, the snowshoes are out (I used ski poles all year, summer as "dog/wolf/bear whackers" :B
Bring on winter...the leaves are off the trees, thankfully the first snow 3 weeks ago did not damage anything! - JumboJetExplorerUnloaded the TC after a weekend of camping.
One more weekend trip deer hunting before winterizing it! - SheriffdougExplorerGoing away this weekend up north, Coral Bay, 850 miles, where it's 85-90f, for 2 weeks.
So getting TC ready for big trip.
I leave, Perth, Western Australia early friday, pick wife up sat morning, at Learmouth Airport(Exmouth, Western Australia), drive back 90 miles, to Coral Bay.
Have had Bug Guard made for front of truck grill, white rubber/canvas cover made for toilet/shower skylight(to hot during day/keeps camper warmth at night),cut large 20ft x 7ft groundcover into two smaller sizes(1/3 & 2/3 rds each), one at rear entrance & one for side under awning, got new foldup outdoor table/had cover bag made(canvas guy), and generally fine tuning & getting ready.
Also finished install, wire rear view camera. Rear camera, power connected to camper 12v clearance lights, so when park or headlights on, camera is active.
Got camera on net from Honk Kong, $189.00 with freight. It's Veise Rear View Camera Unit.
Camper & Truck, sitting out on driveway, fuelled, ready to go! - Pete_kExplorerAfter a great week of camping, we cleaned everything out of it and got it ready for winter. Then parking it in the RV shed until it warms up. Then its clean it spotless, wax and do everything that needs to be done. Then its up for sale, sad day yesterday am. Knowing it may be the last trip for me in the T/C. As its goes up for sale...
