I've read different opinions about going to Four Corners. We're going to be heading to Monument Valley from Santa Fe this Spring and I'm thinking about whether to make it an in-route stop. Just wondering what those of you who have been there think? Thanks in advance.

We've visited 4 Corners a few times, usually in conjunction with Mesa Verde, when the kids were little. All part of the grand adventure of life! 🙂

We've also stood in the Northern and Southern hemispheres in Ecuador on one fun adventure as well. While also interesting, it wasn't quite as "interesting" as my shellback initiation back in the day on the Nimitz, when we crossed the equator somewhere off the west coast of Africa, while transitioning "without delay" from the Med to the I/O (one could argue that slowing down for a day for shellback initiation was a delay, but traditions are strong in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club).

I had planned to go there too but lost interest and pushed west.

We stopped there a few years ago in mid spring. It must have been off season because most of the little "shops" were closed. There was no food being sold.

Could be right, but from plants I would think Co., OK, and NM.

I was at 3-Corners in September.;) Guess which states. The round manhole looking thing in the road is the official spot.

I'd tend to make this a more enlightening trip - MAP - https://binged.it/2PzPxez - With Window Rock, Capital of the Navajo Nation and Canyon de Chelly as part of the drive to Monument valley - The place to stay is Goulding's if you need FHU's - I'd suggest the Guided tour at Canyon de Chelly - do not miss Mexican Hat and Goose Necks while this close.

Monument valley is best at Sunrise and Sunset so that will leave you with the middle of the Day to Tour Goosenecks and Mexican Hat.

Hope this helps, as the only reason to go to four corners is to say you did it - as it is Just dirt in the Southwest, nothing there to really remember, that said I was there 60 years ago as a Kid so I can say I've been, but I would/could not remember it as it is just dirt and the other stops suggested are IMHO Memerable and Beautiful.

We went there 3 years ago as a little side trip while we were camped out at the Mesa Verde NP. I have the picture of DW and I standing in all four states as my home screen background on my cell phone. Just a cool picture. We are the travelers that stay off the interstate highways and travel the back roads to see things like this. Last summer we took a 10 mile detour to check out the "House-Sized Wicker Basket" in Dresden, OH. Not planned, just did it. It was worth the time. It's just part of the whole RV thing for us.

Isn't that what a RoadTrip is all about. I Love my 'silly' pictures ~ bring back great memories.

It has been some years but I do recall that we left wondering why we had spent so much time out & back on a dead end road for basically nothing but a silly picture or two.
