Almot, what dentist are you using, may I ask?
He is in Ensenada. I've sent you his contact info, check your PM. He is good, but not particularly cheap. You can't beat prices of Algodones! - starnetExplorerAlmot, what dentist are you using, may I ask?
- AlmotExplorer IIII would look for a particular "dentist" name rather than a "clinic" name. Unless it's a small clinic with a few dentists that all have good track record.
Also, those that speak English, tend to cost more. This is normal, since many of them got their education in the States or skills upgrade training there. A dentist that I'm using in Ensenada, is reading lectures to US dentists in Oregon, believe it or not. His technology and materials are in fact superior to those of US and Canada, though his prices are pretty steep, by Mexican standards. "Only" about 20-30% cheaper than in the US. - The_TexanExplorer

I know of one dentist in Algodones provides hotel accommodations at a very reduced rate and transportation.
Also, the Quechan (Red Q) Casino provides a reduced rate for dental patients and transportation to & from all dental appointments.
We use http://yasmincarvajal.com/ Dental Betel and are very satisfied with both the facility and the Dentists that work there. - qtla9111NomadI know of one dentist in Algodones provides hotel accommodations at a very reduced rate and transportation.
- starnetExplorerOf course I know that I don't need an RV to get into Mexico! That other poster said that it's my first post on this forum. So I explained that I never posted on an RV forum before because I don't have an RV. :)

yes, it is my first post, because I don't have RV, therefore I was never part of an RV forum! I just joined yesterday to ask if any fellow Minnesotans also head down to Mexico for dental work.
You don't need an RV to go to most border towns in Mexico. I didn't use neither RV nor a car for my first 5 or 6 trips to Baja, and it was waay further from the border than Algodones. Baja Nomads forum might provide some more suggestions, but to my best knowledge, you hardly even need a car to get there. It's 14 miles from Yuma Airport - 13.2 miles to the border and 0.8 mile walk across. Now, to my very best knowledge, Yuma City has evolved significantly since 1957 Glenn Ford movie "3.10 to Yuma". There are transit buses that will get you straight to the border in less than 2 hours for a few bucks cost. I'm sure Google Maps will have all the information on local buses.
Or call a cab. Lots of people leave their cars on the US side and walk across, there is is no need to drive into Algodones.
To those living right at the border and suggesting everybody else letting their teeth go to hell rather than traveling to Mexico - I suggest they do their homework. Cost per crown is $600-800 less. This covers cost of trip. At least for a pensioner since he doesn't take days off work. Savings per implant are more significant, though this requires several trips. For a crown you may hole up in a local hotel for a week, shouldn't be more than 25 bucks a day. Warranty/Insurance is a separate issue, buyers beware. Choose carefully. Popular Dr's would cost more, and will have waiting room always full, so call for appointment in advance. - tjfogelbergExplorerI recommend Tangletown Dental (Brad Isaacson DDS) on Nicollet in Minneapolis.
I'm glad that I am a tax advisor - no danger of my clients going to Mexico for tax prep.:) - briansueExplorerA friend had to have some kind of heart surgery while in Mexico - did not go specifically to have it done - happened to need it while there - doc said he wouldn't make it home - so went to Guadalajara (was near) and had it done for $10,000 US and got all paperwork - returned to US and took papers to Kaiser I think it was - they said it would have cost $120,000 in the US so they paid the $10k - no problem. This should not be considered as advice and I nothing more about it than that. I think there are world class docs in Guad. Don't know. Friend said he felt better than he had in years.
It is my understanding - never investigated - that San Miguel de Allende has become sort of a destination for elective surgery (plastic) but I do not know anything about it. - 2oldmanExplorer IIDoes anyone go to Mexico for surgery?
