Eureka, CA to Fairfield, CA

Currently in Coos Bay, OR and plan on going to see the Redwoods in CA. From there we need to go to Fairfield CA. Any route suggestions would be appreciated as we have never been in this area. Thanks in advance.
  • If time allows drive to Vallejo and take the ferry to San Francisco.
It drops you off at pier 32 and there is plenty to do there. No parking problems and it is a fun ride on the ferry.

We like Hwy 101 all the way to Hwy 37 then I-80 to Fairfield. If you are retired military be sure to go to Travis's Fam Camp. One of the nicest in the system.

Or 101 south to Ukiah then hwy 20 east to I5 to 505 to 80.
This rt will take 2 1/2-3 hrs to I5, 45 mins more to 505...And then another hour to 80......Take the "short cut".....101 to Lakeville hwy to 37 to 80........From Ukiah to Petaluma (Lakeville hwy) takes 2 hrs, Petaluma to 37 takes 20 minutes, Vallejo to Fairfield 20 mins.
