new road to arctic

Ok ok ok...Sue..... if time permits we will stop by your cabin.
Not sure when as we plan on being in Stewart / Hyder for July 1 / July 4.... wife was raised in Stewart and time to go see her old haunts again....
so..... sometime in July is best guess date.

We drove the Dempster to Inuvit summer of 2016, then flew to TuK. We could see the new road below. The amount of water (lakes, ponds, etc) was amazing but the road appeared to stable. If/when we return we look forward to driving it. lizzie

Did the trip to Inuvit alone in my Jeep Wranger in 2014. Came over the Top of the World highway out of Alaska down to Dawson City then up the Dempster. Had my backpack in the Jeep and mostly tent camped at Provincial Parks along the way. No worse than doing the old Alcan in '67. No flat tires and no rocks in the windshield on either of those trips, 1967 or 2014.

They were talking about the new road and looking forward to it when I was in Inuvit. Guess I need to plan another trip up there so I can do the end of the road highway. :-)

Ok the race is on... who will get dibs of being first to post pictures to the top?
It will be a decade before I have the real time to do this. Could be even more open by then.

I knew there was something wrong with me... just never could figure out what it was!! We did it 'alone' in 2004. Just the truck. Left the fiver at the junction before heading up to the B & B in Inuvik. One flat tire on the way in.. saw the world's BIGGEST mosquitoes while changing it!! :E :R ;)
