Not true. I'm in Phoenix and there are many stations $1.99 or slightly less. Costco 27th Ave N. of 101, Sams Club 15th ave and Bell. There are others. I saw $1.85 in N. Valley but don't remember the exact station I passed.

If you are eastbound to the Q just wait to buy your fuel when you clear out of California. Arizona will always be cheaper by a lot. The further east you go, farther from CA, the cheaper it gets. If you are westbound to the Q fuel up well before reaching the Q.

Gas Buddy is currently showing several stations here in the north end of Tucson at $2.15.

Just went by there 4 hours ago
That station is on the old Vicksberg cutoff route
Gas was 2.49 there,2.69 in Q and 2.79 in Ehrenberg at the state line
gas was 2.25 in Buckeye and 2.13 in Casa Grande

What amazes me about these threads is that the posters about high gas prices FORGET that the UNITED STATES has the free enterprise system. Within limits a businessman is allowed to charge whatever he wishes for the product.
The consumer is free to shop elsewhere. This will tend to drive down prices.
SO if a lot of people in the Quartzite area stopped shopping at the higher price places and went the 10-15 miles down the road then prices would fall. BUT the convenience factor and inertia stop people from do so. Therefore prices stay high.
