I'm not surprised. There is a used dealership near me that sells only diesel trucks. All of their inventory has between 120,000 and 325,000 miles and based on age and mileage they're priced from $15K to $30K.
The diesel truck market is just insane. I got my '14 Ram in the fall of 2015 for the low $30K's with 72,000 miles. I now have 125,000 miles on it and I have no doubt I could turn around and sell it today for exactly my purchase price. BUT I WON'T!!!!!! I couldn't come close to replacing this truck for that price. If I play my cards right, this is the truck I'll have for the next 10 to 15 years.

My '09 Silverado was going for $10,000+ more as a diesel for sale on cars.com, etc.
Made me wish I had paid the $8000 extra for the Duramax when I ordered it.
That premium was a big influence in me getting my new Cummins. - travelnmanExplorerIt seems everything is going higher and at a fast pace. Gas is headed that way 25 cents for Trump and the feds, states are looking into it to plug some holes, tolls are to low say some politicians, summer blend on the way, opec and Iran freezing output, oil companies claiming loses all adds up to ballistic prices this summer. Wanted a denali with the 6.2 but it uses premium at 40 to 60 cents more a gallon. House prices going up like Dorothy's in the Wiz of Oz. Breakfast cereal at 5 bucks. Everything rising except your paycheck. Even Trump disappointed I'm paying in 4% more not less. Cars and trucks with the latest China Tariffs guess what alum and steel will be at gold prices soon. Of course your old truck tomorrow will be worth more than buying new, it will be broke in so to speak.
- kirklExplorerMy dad has a 2005 ram cummins with only about 45-50000 miles on the odometer.

For what it’s worth, I ordered a new one today. Sticker after we built it in the computer was $73,955. It’s a little muddy because I have a trade-in but I figure I’m actually paying $59,650. Laramie Megacab short box dually, 6.7, AISIN, airbags, 5th wheel prep, tube steps, bedliner, etc... And yeah, I’m pretty stoked about the deal.
I bet you're excited!
How long until it's delivered? When I ordered my truck, the dealer gave me a web URL and a code. I could 'follow' my truck through the assembly line, as it was loaded on the train, when it crossed into the USA, then Oakland as a port-of-entry and finally on a car hauler to my dealer.
Here's a tip; don't let the dealer prep your truck. Instead of letting them ham-fist a wash that may swirl the paint, I washed my truck myself and then clay-bar before waxing it. The clay-barring picked up a lot of iron from the rails.
That’s the bad part. Apparently a company wide email went out TODAY that the plant in Mexico was shutting down (to rebuild the painting area or something) and delivery will be at least 3 months. It’s all good though, for that price I can be patient. - Ski_Pro_3Explorer

I had my 2006 RAM in my sig in for the air bag recall. When I went to pick it up, 3 mechanics met me and asked if I were interested in selling it. I asked how much they'd give me, they asked what did I pay for it. I told 'em $32,000 and they said SOLD! Then the bidding started. I whoa'd 'em and asked what a new one cost. Well, that ended that! Who in their right mind would spend $60,000+ for a brand new truck?!! My first house, in California yet, was less than $50,000. Ha!
I'm sure glad I bought that truck when I did. It will be my last truck I ever buy barring any catastrophic event.
I went to pick up my 2004.5 Ram dually from the dealership after my airbag replacement. It was sitting next to the showroom with the doors open and the hood up. I asked them what the story was and they said they just wanted to show it off, don't see many that old in that condition. Said they could have sold it three times that day. Last truck for me so we didn't discuss money.
My buddy, Reddog has that truck. It's sorta a maroon, rootbeer colored truck. Never seen that color before. I've driven it towing a lifted 5er and again with a Bigfoot camper while towing a Samurai and I gotta say that thing is the smoothest ride I've ever jockeyed.
But I don't like the headlights. Ha! - DurbExplorer

Well that was silly. If you got them up to 35k you could have bought a brand new one for less than $10k out of pocket. Manual or auto.
Guessing this is just a story, because no one in their right mind would walk away from mid 30s for a 12 year old quad cab truck, unless that is you have another 10-20k sunk into mods or something.
Not around my neck of the woods would I find the same equipped new RAM truck for only $10K more than I paid 12 years ago. It's more like double the price; $70,000 from the stickers I've seen around here.
There is absolutely nothing a new model truck has that I would spend $10K plus my trade in for. In 12 years, the only thing that I've had to replace is a water pump for $50 from AutoZone. That was maybe 6 years ago. Far as I can tell, the last good year RAM's were 2006 built in the Saltillo, Mexico plant. Environmentalists stuck their noses into truck manufacturing and everything's been a compromise since.
****EDIT****
Checked NADA website and a similarly equipped truck MSRP is 68,600 and Invoice is $63,600. Now add the tax, registration, etc and... yeah, I'll keep my truck. - mtofell1ExplorerI drove my 06 Dmax for 6+ years and put on 125K glorious miles. Sold it for 8K less than I paid..... after 6 years!! I wanted to keep it but I put a lot of miles on for work and feared upcoming repairs. I decided to take my winnings and move on. Yep, these trucks hold their value amazingly well!
