Renting a place to stay instead of camping?
I read in many post that some people are now renting an apartement or condo or else instead of bringing their rig to Mexico. Is it because it cost less this way or is it just because it is easier?
I would like to hear some that do it and how much it cost and what type of rentals you get for the price. I tried to get some prices online and for a decent place it seems to be in the 3000 to 4000 dollars a month. I cannot see how this would cost less than a decent campground including fuel and cost to get there, you still have to get to Mexico either by plane, bus or car.
In my planning, I figured it would cost me around $3500 to get to PV with my MH from East Canada and back. This includes car insurance, fuel, roads (I boondock on the way down). Then camping should be around 600 to 700 a month, I think.
So if I stay 3 months, this would come to around $5600. I do not add the MH cost because this cost is part of my spending either I go to Mexico or somewhere else. Of course if I stop traveling, which I do not think it will happen, I would not have to support the MH.
Maybe some just do not like traveling anymore, like my friends that go to Florida for the winter in the Park house they bought or condos. From what they tell me, their cost varries from $5000 to $15000 canadian a year depending on the type of resort they are in, what amenity they have or being lower down south for better weather. They have to pay for a full year if they own the place.
