Richmond VA to Colorado Springs

Hello. My wife and I are planning a trip from Richmond Va to Colorado Springs in July. We would like to know what the best route would be pulling a 31ft TT. We will be leaving on July 2nd have 3 days to get there. Google maps shows I64W to St. Louis and then I70 into Colorado. As an alt. Google shows I64 to Charleston WV then 35 to Dayton Ohio and pick up 70 there all the way to Colorado. Any thoughts on the best route and overnights along the way? Thanks so much.
  • We will be attending the summer family bible conference at Andrew Wommack ministries in woodland park from the 4th thru the 8th.No other activities planned as of yet. Still trying to decide if the travel will be overwhelming since we only have 3 days to get there and 3 days to get home.

Thanks for the info.Wow 36 hours huh? I was figuring 31. maybe we should leave Friday night.

Every bit of 36 when you start to get close to Denver jump off I-70 (Limon) and take Rt 24 (exit 359?) will run you right into The Springs, and 24 is a good road.

Keep an eye on your engine oil - and your tire pressure - sure do not need to lose hours with issues.

Will you do anything other than visit Colorado Springs?

    BOL,
  • If you take I-64 W be aware that the toll road (yeah, you have to pay for the abuse) between Beckley, WV and Charleston, WV is horrible. Windy road, many, many semi's, and a real beating on your rig due to rough pavement.

First get things packed and leave on Friday the 1St have everything ready on Thursday night then the minute you get home on Friday jump in the Truck and head out try to get at least 4 and possibly 6 hours in before finding a Wal*Mart and spending the night jump up and go again, then again, then again.

I live in Annapolis, MD and have made this drive probably 25 times and it's 1785 miles so with an RV it will average out at 36 hours driving. Just might check to see which Interstate is running clear and take that route, this is a looooong drive and you need to be on the I's to get there on time.

I take the I's to get on the other side of St Louis/Hannibal then Take Rt 36 across and still make good time - you might look at Rt 50 as a possible alternative, but if point A to Point B is the Mission then the I's are the way to go.

Hope this is of some help.

    BOL,
