Some will allow you to go alone for 1/2 price if they don't have a full load. I always ask if I can only go alone.

No, but then you're tour is already "half price". :)

We saved $230 over the price of the book. There were several tours that we skipped due to plan changes or weather. We had no problems with reservations 1-2 days in advance.

An aspect (for us) of the book is that you are more tempted to take a tour since it's half price and hence see an aspect of Alaska that you would otherwise miss.

we found the coupon book a real savings and the person in Tok going north on our way home got to enjoy the left overs we didn't use.

Not unless you can pick up some one to share with. However, the TourSaver web site is a good place to see a listing of a lot of the attractions in Alaska.

We greatly enjoyed the boat rides out of Seward and Whittier, the rafting at Denali, and at Talkeetna the jet boat ride, the Flag Train, and the airplane ride around Mt. McKinley. Also did all the attractions offered in Fairbanks.

We did more than what I have listed above and enjoyed most of them. A complete listing of the ones we did is in my daily trip log posted in the website in my signature.

In our situation we really we didn't save any money with the TourSaver because we spent everything we had planned on for attractions and rides. What the book did for us was it allowed us to do twice as much as we has planned on.

It is a great value.

thats just the type of info I am looking for. i know it only takes one or two uses to pay for the book, but I am also guessing that there are a few "must do" excursions -and MANY "eh" excursions so I want to get an idea of which ones people thought were the good ones, and how restricted they are.

I forgot to mention that we also plan to do the Flag Train out of Talkeetna as well as the Seward boat tour. Just one trip pays for the book so I think you should go for it. I second the notion that you need reservations for July 4 in Seward. We have stayed at Stoney Creek and Bear Creek RV Parks and I recommend Stoney Creek. We already have reservations there for the 4th. The suggestion to have reservations in Talkeetna is also a good one. We lucked out and got the last spot at Talkeetna Camper Park. It's nothing special; just a place to park the rig. I guess what I disliked about it and so many other places is that you have to pay extra for a shower.I know people with big rigs usually use their own shower, but I would just rather have it included in all rates. I hate it when I am "nickel and dimed" with extras.
