- FFWIFE50ExplorerThanks for the information, you have given us some food for thought.
- Mr-MrsPeteExplorerJust an FYI. When looking up travel information, look up Acadia not A"r"cadia. You may get some bogus info.
- kknowltonExplorer IIYou DO need a passport to cross through Canada; the U.S. requires it to return to this country.
- obgrahamExplorerUpper Peninsula, Mackinac Bridge, Port Huron/Sarnia, 402-401-403-QEW to Niagara.
Then upper New York State, on to Maine.
If you have more time, Ontario #3 is a lot more leisurely than the expressways. And there's some neat little towns with nifty bakeries, etc. - DrewEExplorer IIWhat sort of a rig are you driving?
From Niagra Falls area to Maine, I'd probably take NY18 to the Lake Ontario State Parkway to Rochester. At Rochester, 390 to I-90 (or 390 to I-490 to I-90 to save a bit in tolls).
Thruway to Verona, then 365 to 8 through the Adirondacks, to 9N and cross into Vermont via the crown point bridge. In Vermont, 17 to US 7 north to I-89 to Montpelier and then US 2 out towards Maine. I like the Kancamagus Highway (NH 112) through the White Mountains of New Hampshire (and it's perfectly reasonable for RV travel), though there are many pretty roads through that area.
8 through the Adirondacks, particularly towards the eastern end (between Hague and Brandt Lake), has some relatively steep winding portions. I went over it without great difficulty or drama in my 32' class C not long ago.
Unless you have something like a pickup camper, resist the temptation to take VT 17 over to VT 100. While it's a pretty drive, it's quite steep and has very sharp curves. - FCExplorerWill you be crossing over to Canada?? Need Passport???
Best view is still from the Canadian side and lots to see and do on that side of the river. - Dick_BExplorerOnce you determine the route do Google searches for `______ tourism' and put the place, city, state or area in the blank space.
When in the Falls area go to Lockport, NY and take a boat ride on the Erie Canal.
We have stayed at the Niagara Hartland RV Resort a couple of times and actually ridden our bicycles to the Falls.
The local sandwich is called `Beef on Weck'. It's a roast beef sandwich on a salty kummelweck roll.
