That's some scary title.
"You now need permit in Baja for any RV" would be more accurate. Regular cars/trucks still don't need permits, but motorhomes they now consider an RV, rather than just a "vehicle". Not entirely illogical.
This rule - permit for RV - has been in effect for quite a while, though was not enforced.
This is true, in my experience. Though the northern half of Sonora is also a free zone, RV permits have been required for about 2-3 years now. - pezvelaExplorer

Costing the MEXICAN GOVERNMENT billions of pesos. But how many billions of pesos has it put in local businesses hands by making it easier to travel in those regions?
This will end up COSTING Mexico more, if they enforce it. Tourism is sure to go down.
But they dont care. They prefer fly-in tourists who dont bring a thing but dollars down. - charlestonsouthExplorerAdmin -- Please allow me to apologize. I knew no other way to differentiate between so much aid in dollars to a neighbor country (with just a little compassion and kindness in return to US citizens) and the current political climate.

- moishehExplorerChris: I don't often agree with you but this time you are right on. No country should have to put up with the cr-p that is being thrown at them. But we are innocent bystanders that are suffering from this retaliation.
Moisheh - moishehExplorerI might add that Baja nomads has some posts on this subject.
Moisheh - moishehExplorerI am not surprised at some of the changes. The Feds have been trying to do away with the no hassle zone in Sonora. So far so good. As for towing a vehicle I would bet that is a misinterpretation by some Official. Maybe they should just close the border!!!
Moisheh - TequilaExplorerI am still unable to confirm this with any other source
