40' DP at Turtle Beach Campground (Sarasota)?

Hi,
I'm thinking of trying to make a reservation at Turtle Beach Campground for a few days in early November but I wanted to know if we'll fit with our 40' DP? I've read the sites are small but I have no idea how small is 'small'.

If you've been there, let me know if you think I'll fit.

Thanks,
Mike
  • Thanks for the info on the State Park. We like to be near / on the beach so might look at going at Fort de Soto instead but I'll look into Myakka State Park
  • Try Myakka State Park - just about 12 miles from the Beach.
The new section has very large sites that can easily accommodate your 40ft.
  • It's been a long time/20+ yrs. since we were there in a 33'MH. We were near the front and the sites were somewhat shorter than closer to the beach. "BUT" the price went up as you get closer to the beach. Biggest problem is the narrow road in between the sites on each side and they were on a 90 degree angle to the road. I personally wouldn't try it in our 40'er.

  • We stayed there two winters ago, one of our favorites. BUT we just barely got our 36 footer in our site and that was with our gracious neighbors across from us moving everything they could to give us enough room to make the turn backing into our space. GREAT park tho!

  • Thanks for all the response. I did email the campground as well and they told us we are too big to fit so we'll just make other arrangements.

You will fit at the sites closest to Midnight Pass Road. The sites more toward the beach side are smaller and are limited to 30 ft or so. We were at a site right next to the beach in in our 28ft MH, when we got a 37ft MH we moved toward the road... the sites near the ranger station are large enough When you call for reservations , talk to the ranger and he'll set you up with an appropriate site.
  • Agree with the above. I've seen them as well. There doesn't appear to be room enough for two RVs side by side to open their doors at the same time.
  • Although I have never stayed there, I did check it out while I was in the area. You may fit but I wouldn't attempt it with my 37' motorhome. There didn't seem to be alot of maneuvering room and the sites looked quite small & tight. Plus Turtle beach is not all that nice, considering that Siesta Key Beach is just "around" the corner, a couple miles..
