advice on choosing snowbird site close to shopping

A few years ago we met a couple that were making their first winter trip in a Class B. There idea was they could do their shopping and have a place to stay. We became good friends and would take them shopping and sight-seeing, in fact we still meet up with them during the winter months. Now they have a Class A and pull a Jeep. What they said is their first RV was way to small for long stays, and not easy to use for shopping or running around.
