What is the best park for an overnight stop in Amarillo, TX?

We have stayed at both the Oasis and Fort Amarillo and like both.  For us the Oasis is easy access and we like the nice large sites.

We stayed last night just east of there, at Walnut RV Park. Simple and easy. The folks are nice as well.

Ooops, yeah you're right. It's operated by the City of Dumas but called Texhoma Park. Sorry.

I know the original post was about a one night stopover, but I think anybody would be totally thrilled with the stunning views at Palo Duro Canyon SP. Totally worth a 2 night stay at the bare minimum, then get back on the road.

If your route to/from Colorado takes you thru Dumas (that's the route I take either US-87 or US-287), then the Dumas City Park is a great place to stay overnite. Free camping (donation encouraged) but it has a dump station, fresh water and 30/50a outlets at all the RV spots! It's a level gravel lot but includes a doggie area and a kiddie area with playground equipment and rest rooms. The only downside for some is it's near the railroad tracks so you do get some train noise and train horns.

The last time I went thru Amarillo, I parked overnight at the Cracker Barrel (#210). We had supper and then breakfast the next morning.

For an overnight stop, I tend to stay in a parking lot (Sam's Club or Cracker Barrel usually).

You may want to check the listings on RV Parky. Where I would stay and where you would stay are most likely two totally different places.

All the previous posts have good suggestions, but I will add another. When we are headed to Colorado, we turn off I 40 to the north bypass 335. At that intersection we have stayed several times at the "Overnight RV Park."

It is an older park and shows signs of its age, but it is convenient and right on our route. I hope it hasn't gone down even further, but our stay there in the past has been pleasant.

Years ago, maybe 5 or so, we stayed at the A-OK camper park just off 40 exit 80 (?). We were forced to get off the road because of high winds. I took the first park I saw. This at the time was a put you money in the envelope in the envelope and slide it through the slot in the door....12 dollars at the time with Passport America discount. Hardly anyone there but the outer edge had permanent residents. We had to stay 2 days because the wind was 40 mph sustained with 55 gusts and I was being blown all over the road so safer to just stay put. It served its purpose but by far is no resort. Never felt unsafe though and it was hardly any activity of any kind. Wide open sites in a row is all it is. Hard to say if anything has changed.

When we travel thru Amarillo heading west we do the bypass around it and stay at the KOA

The Oasis RV park is also very nice.
Don't forget the free limo rides to the Big Texan Steak House from all the RV parks and hotels.
They pick you up and take you back. Older Limos but big horns on all of the hoods.
There is also a nice RV museum in the area.
