Brown County firewood needed!

Hello, we are camping at Brown County State Park in Nashville Indiana and wanted to know if anyone knew of a good local place that sold good burning firewood? We hate to buy from the camp store because it's never dry enough but was desperate enough to buy a stack and yet again they proved us right and all we are getting is smoke from wet wood! If anyone can help us out we would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
  • I keep a stash of DuraFlame logs on board in the RV at all times.

You start one of those pupppies first in the fire pit and you can put wet logs on top of it and they will dry up and burn in a heartbeat.

I HATE smoldering CG fires so basically I use the DuraFlame log ALL the time with wet or dry wood. Eliminates all of the smoke when starting a fire.

I bought some along the road in Gnaw Bone last year. Not sure if they still sell or not but it was on the South side of the road.

That's exactly where we ended up finding some and it is the best we've ever found! We normally bring our own but this time we weren't able to bring any with us. We had seen a few "by the roadside" places but they want $10 for a stack of twigs and were very happy when we found this place!

    Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

  • Take a drive around and see if anyone nearby is selling on the roadside. I've always had good luck that way. Earlier this week we followed a firewood sign down a gravel road. Turned out to be an Amish farm where the young man sold me enough for 2 nights of an excellent campfire for $4. It was the driest and best campfire wood I've ever had.
  • I usually see dry wood and some of the larger grocery stores. If worse comes to worse buy some Presto logs. LOL
  • Go into town and ask at the hardware store.those guys know everything about the area
  • I've checked Craigslist in the past and usually find a decent supplier.

That or ask the campground staff- they know their wood is **** and can usually point you in the right direction.
