Camp Clearwater, White Lake NC

Anyone ever camped here? What can we expect? From what I can tell there are more permanent sites than overnights. We've got a 35' travel trailer. Hoping to find it accommodating for us for 2 nights or so on the way to MB.

From what I've heard, I wouldn't do it. I hate telling someone that because I haven't been to White Lake in decades and I sure haven't seen the RV park. But yes, the permanent sites seems to be their target market.

Go to Willow Tree or Daddy Joe's if you want to stay somewhere near MB for a couple of days before. They're maybe 30-45 minutes further down the road.

Daddy Joes is 50 minutes or so from White Lake. Well worth the drive. Hidden gem. Once you go, you will want to go back.
  • I would guess so about the permanent sites. If you look on the website it has a separate layout for overnight campers.
  • What's so ironic is they have a big billboard on I-40 around exit 325 just before you get to I-95. Big pretty sign that says "Camp Clearwater" on it. But why? More permanent site sales?
  • We were there in our fifth wheel a few years ago. We will not go back. But just for two nights as a stopover you may be ok. I actually had to pull up the post with the site number on it to get my fiver in. It was loose and leaning anyway so I was not the first one to do it. Sites were small and a LOT of permanent trailers.

  • Hmmm....three stars TripAdvisor and zero stars RV Parky. Good Sam 8.5.
