Fredericksburg Texas

Going to Fredericksburg Texas for a month. Two Good Sam Parks standout, Fredericksburg RV and Oakwood (?), which one has the better dog park?

Of those two Federicksburg RV Park is a better park.

You might want to check out the KOA and Jelly stone that are east of Fredericksburg on HWY 290.

The Jell stone is about 7 miles east and has wider sites and more level and a little better park over all.
  • This is the one place where we choose the KOA which is about 5 miles east of town. We go there at least once each year and sometimes more. The dog park is small but adequate. We do have a large dog but we use the large park areas more than we do the dog park itself.

There are some nice shady spots down at the back of the park where we always stay, but that is our personal preference. There are plenty of nice sites all over the campground.

For what it's worth, the KOA is at the junction of US 290 and the Farm Road that goes out to Luckenbach (and on to Boerne and San Antonio for that matter.)

We are familiar with all the RV parks in Fredericksburg and we always choose the KOA. We are neither KOA fans or KOA bashers. We choose on a very specific basis whether to stay in a KOA or not.
  • We've stayed in both when visiting friends. Fredericksburg RV is much better as a park. We don't have dogs so can't help there. Would you really need a dog park? Just walk the dog normally. There are plenty of places. I guess I wouldn't choose a RV park depending on a dog park.
  • You might like Johnson RV up the road in Ingram.. large pull thru and very clean.

    X2

The KOA is out east of town nearer all the wineries, if you are into that sort of thing. It is also near Luckenbach if you are into that sort of thing as well. We were there on a nice fall weekend a few years ago and there was some sort of biker rally at Luckenbach. It was somewhat noisy due to the loud Harleys, but it was not a major problem.

It is a nice, clean, well-run park with a good collection of partially shaded sites.
  • Most parks are good to decent. I have been to most of them and prefer Lady Bird. Has wi-fi and cable and close to town and Kerrville. It's sites are probably the largest. I have stayed in Fredericksbburg RV Park. Nice but I find the sights a little tight.

Go to RVParkReviews and check the reviews. Most parks get a good rating. I don't believe you would be disappointed in any of them,
