Tombigbee Forest Davis Lake Campground 17 miles south of Tupelo off the Natchez Trace. (cheap, small campground on lake). Make reservations!
or Campground at Barnes Crossing in Tupelo. (really nice)
And we did make it to Tupelo and stayed a Barnes Crossing for 2 nights. Enjoyed the town of Tupelo....went to Elvis's home and really liked the Tupelo Hardware Store. Left a bit of cash there. Thanks for the info.
PS.....we did make it to Natchez.....saw the Cemetary and Visitors Center. Went over to Vidalia and stayed at the Riverview RV Park. The Bridge over the Mississippi looked great at night. Moved on from there to Grand Isle State Park on the Gulf. Very well run park. Up to a KOA in New Orleans, through Alabama to the Smokies and finally home to more cool spring weather. It was a fun trip. - Harley_DudeExplorer

South or west side of Nashville is tough. About the only campground anywhere near the end of the Trace is Montgomery Bell State Park....but that's out of the way from the direction you are coming. You might want to consider stopping just on the north side of Nashville. There is a KOA in Millersville, off 65 just north of the city.
Hi Dave....just wanted you to know we took your suggestion and stayed one night at the KOA you recommended. Worked out well for us on our way to Louisiana. A reasonable stop over and a well run park. Thanks for your help. Don - sdianel_-acct_cExplorerhttp://www.recreation.gov/camping/davis-lake-campground/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70545
