Jacksonville FL

Flamingo Lake RV Resort, Hannah Park, North Beach, Hugenot Park (no hookups). Some really nice state parks close by are Ft. Clinch, Anastasia, Little Talbot Island (not big rig friendly)

If you are staying north of town Flamingo Lake is very nice, if south of town I would venture on down to St Augustine and would choose North Beach RV. Just a few thoughts on Flaming lake, it is a very nice park and a destination spot. The area immediately south of the park is not the greatest but it has not intruded into the park itself. There is some very nice shopping and decent dining just east of there on I-295. Overall Jax has some interesting history and sights and is worth the visit but as in any big city some caution and situational awareness is required.

I'd pick North Beach over Hanna. Hanna is OK - stayed there in August, but some sites are cramped as stated.

We stayed at Kathryn abbey Hannah park last thanksgiving. It was a very nice campground, some sites are a bit tight, but we got a great one. It is just across the street from the ocean. It is about 20 minutes from downtown jacksonville I think. I would go again.

If you qualify, check out the Pelican Roost RV Park on NAS Mayport. Have been there twice and really enjoyed it both times.

Family will be living in Jax starting in May. So need to be close enough to visit. North Beach sounds like it might work.

Looking for more of RV resort and less Trailer Park....Ideas?

Personally, I would avoid Jacksonville all together if you're only just interested in being in the general area. Jax beaches aren't very nice compared to other nearby beaches. In my opinion, either go north of Jax, south of Jax to St. Augustine, then skip everywhere in between until you get to New Smyrna. And yes, North Beach is in a nearly perfect location for restaurants, shopping, beaches, etc. You can watch the sunrise over the ocean or watch the sunset over the intercoastal waterway (ICW). In fact, all this talk makes me want to check on some later winter reservations over there myself.
