- noe-placeExplorerThe Grand Canyon Railroad RV Resort(train goes to the Canyon) is right in the middle of Williams but it's a huge parking lot type layout with all the amenities. Good golf, restaurants close by and a short hop to Las Vegas.
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIJust wondering why folks want to drive 100-200 miles round trip to see other places...why not just move?
- ezgoinExplorerAs others have stated, in a couple of weeks of weeks you can see more than the Grand Canyon. If you set up camp in the Williams area, you'll be centrally located to many choices. Check Rvparkreviews for some nice RV parks in Williams, Az., which is about 50 miles south of the Grand Canyon.
From Williams you can head east about 90 miles to Meteor Crater or you can head west about 40 miles to Seligman and see some great old Route 66 memories. Or head south on I-17 from Flagstaff (30 miles east of Williams) and see the beautiful red rock scenery of Sedona. - Jim_ShoeExplorerA friend of mine took one of the mule rides down to the bottom. The wrangler put him on Seymour. After he got to the bottom he mentioned that the mule seemed to enjoy walking along the outside edge. The wrangler told him the mule's name was spelled 'See More'.
- RGar974417ExplorerWe stayed at Circle Pines KOA in Williams. They have an indoor pool and hot tubs. They also have a store and laundry. It's about an hour's drive to the GC from there. If you have 2 to 3 weeks,I would say aday or 2 at the Canyon is plenty unless you're into hiking. When we were in Arizona,we visited the GC first, then went south and stayed at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood. From there we visited Tuzigoot,Jerome and Ft Verde. The headed to the northeast part of the state and stayed at Canyon De Chelly.Tourd the canyon and visited the Hubbel Trading Post.
- K_CharlesExplorerGrand Canyon Camper Village is about one mile south of the park entrance on Highway 64 in Tusayan, Arizona
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIUnless you're a serious hiker 2-3 weeks is a very long time for Grand Canyon. Trailer Village in the park itself is the best place to stay for the canyon. The free shuttle stops right outside the campground entrance.
- Jim_ShoeExplorerThere are several CGs in or near Williams, AZ. on I-40. With varying amounts of hookups. Just be aware that you're still 50 miles south of the Grand Canyon entrance. Trailer Village is the only Park on NPS property with hookups.
- Two_HandsExplorerWe have stayed in Trailer Village Campground several times and really like it, but it is not spacious. It has full hookups, including cable, at a good price. It is in the park and only about a mile of less walk to the south rim. It is a short stroll to the village store, cafeteria, gift shop, and post office. There is a park shuttle stop at the campground entrance that will take you to just about everything in the park. Deer and elk often wander through the campground. Get reservations now and have a great trip.
