Maybe closed by now. Your posting refreshed my memory on LAX.

My wife booked a motel for us (3 rooms) in Inglewood on Century Boulevard just East of LAX, for us to stay in after a late night flight. She booked it on-line and didn't correctly decipher the code words on their web-site. The chain-link fencing with razor wire around the parking lot should have told us something. There were arguments and fighting on the balconies, gunshots in the distance, police sirens and activity in front of the motel, and when we wanted to get a late night dinner, the desk clerk told us not to walk to the restaurant a block away. We arrived at the restaurant, that was open, but the inside doors were locked, and they needed to approve of us before opening the inside doors. They watched us leave to make sure that we got to our car safely. It was an interesting evening, and the kids won't let mom book any hotel/motel rooms for us again.

I'm sure that there are reasonable areas near LAX, but Inglewood may not be one of them. Good luck.

I would not envy anybody having to drive to LAX in AM go to work traffic or after 3 PM. Also, currently there is major road work being done on the 405 Frwy, in that general area. There is a campground near LAX--Dockweiler State Beach. In Long Beach there is Golden Shore RV Resort-N. end of Long Beach near Frwy's. I know there are some in Malibu and Santa Monica. Safety and security would be a major concern in the LAX areas. Lars

RV Park? Stay in Golden Shores Long Beach. Nice park. We stay there when we visit the area. Motel or hotel? Torrance, or Redondo Beach, Westwood Village on north but lots more traffic. LAX eastward. NO WAY!! Lived and worked in that area 40 years

Golden Shores was the one I saw online that looked decent, price was over $1200 a month during the summer months. However, that might be well worth the price if the security is good and the surrounding area isn't depressed or dangerous.

Mapquest shows the Park as 20 miles or 22 min from LAX. Would anyone know what the real numbers are for morning and afternoon commute?

Horrible! It use to take me 45 min to 1 hour to go from Inglewood to Santa Monica 11.6 mile in morning traffic. At one time I spent a half an hour of my day getting from the top of the off ramp and onto the 405.

Well. that solves it for me. I am not going to second guess my decision.

I lived 31 miles from the plant I worked at which was just S/W of LAX

Took me 1 1/2 hours to commute in a car........45 mins on a motorcycle splitting traffic.....that was in the 1980's.
It's worst now.

Go to google maps, and look at traffic, you can show what typical traffic will look like on any day or time.

Dockweiler was the worst 10 days of my life. It is located about 1/4 mile south of the west end of LAX. Every 48 seconds 24 hours a day planes are landing/taking off and everything is covered with the exhaust residue of the planes. During the weekdays the campground was quite, but on the weekends the party begins. I complained both Fri/Sat nights I was there to no avail. Never saw security except during the days. I left ahead of schedule at 5pm knowing the drive north on the I5 would be at a crawl all the way to Magic Mtn.
