Lower Missouri/Arkansas trip

We have only about 15 days vacation this year. Considering, Lower Missouri. We have been to Branson several times. And then circling around AR back to Altus, OK. We have been to Cotter AR several times fishing and Eureka Springs. Anyone have some favorite places in Missouri or AR. We even thought AR and the top east corner of Texas. Would love some places that are nice. Don't need shopping places just nice camping and relaxing. We don't mind COE or Military etc.
Also part of this vacation will be over Labor Day.
I wanna go where I haven't been, but still wanna see what I've seen again!

Another question - Thanks for the earlier suggestions. Most places were booked. I had to book our trip from the middle because of Labor Day a lot was booked. We are headed to Wright Patman COE TX, Then to Millwood State PK, AR., Next to Lake Catherine St.Pk,AR. Now Question: Thinking of heading to maybe
Dardanelle Lake in Russellville, AR or Beaver Lake for a few days then work our way back home to OK. We stayed in Aux Arc COE very nice. Kind of want a new place we haven't been. Any suggestions? We have from the 3rd-8th to rv then home.
I wanna go where I haven't been, but still wanna see what I've seen again!

Hi you might want to check this place on, Camp MIA Casa it is in Carthage, MO we stayed there overnight on the way to Branson last year. Did not get a chance to check out area, but there is some neat stuff in area, Precious Moments Chappell which heard was neat.

You could swing back through and see Grand Lake, heard Monkey Island is nice.

Happy Camping

I agree with others Blanchard Springs Caverns and The Ozark Folk Center are very good.

We stayed at JFK COE on the Little Red River just below the dam for Greers Ferry lake.

Some of the best trout fishing in the country and you can fish right from your campsite in some places.

There is also a very nice walking trail to see small waterfalls right before park entrance.

I would highly recommend this campground! and not to far from the Folk Center and the caverns.

We were park hosts at Prairie Creek COE campground in Rogers, AR, 60 miles from Branson. It's on Beaver Lake. Water & elec at sites, dump at entrance. Site 55 has nice views of the lake. Make reservations asap, it's busy in the summer. Horseshoe Bend has a lot more waterfront sites but may not have water at all sites. Both parks are about 8 miles east of I 49.

If you are going near the tri-corner of MO, OK and AR and you do not go to the Chrystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, you will be missing a great stop. We go there anytime we are in striking range.

There is no cell service but there is WiFi in the campground. You can text and make calls with the WiFi. You just have to change the setting on your phone for wifi calling. We were there Thanksgiving weekend. I always wanted to see those horses. We woke up one night to a horse rubbing his head on the spare tire at the back of the trailer!

Echo Bluff SP just North of Eminence, MO, very new SP, near Current River, wild horses walk through campground.Bull Shoals SP, in AR, below the dam, trout fish, if you get a river front site the occasional breese off the river feels like you opened the freezer door. Great when it is hot.
Lake Ouachita, in AR, very deep, clean lake near Hot Springs.
Lake Dardanelle SP in AR is nice. We used it as base for visiting Petit Jean SP, Mt Nemo SP and Mt. Magazine SP-beautiful lodge but the campground does not have a view.
You may be late for making reservations for Labor Day.
You will have a great time in So Mo or AR beautiful area!

DW drug me to Crystal Bridges. It was great! Sure hated to tell her she was right. Had crow for dinner that night.
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

One fall a few years ago we spent a couple of weeks in Missouri and Arkansas. In Missouri we enjoyed Lake of the Ozarks State Park and the original Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. In Arkansas we camped at Maumelle COE in Little Rock and made a day trip to Petit Jean State Park. Two of our favorites in Arkansas were Mississippi River State Park in the small town of Marianna and Lake Chicot near the Louisiana border. Links to a couple of my posts about the trip are Lake of the Ozarks, , Maumelle and Petit Jean, Mississippi River State Park

Lake Ft Smith has a great campground. The sites are far apart and it's basically on the side of a mountain.

We enjoyed camping at St Francois State park. Electric hookups. Sites are nice and spread out. We also enjoyed camping at Pomme De Terra Lake's Nemo Campground. Electric hookups and nice beach for swimming.
