- mockybirdExplorercorrect wb, until you get a whiff of that salty air and hear those waves crashing the shoreline in the distance
- wbwoodExplorerIf I remember correctly, those around the lake within the trees will make you forget you are at the beach...you will feel like you are forest camping...lol
- mockybirdExplorerThat describes it perfectly as I have seen it.
- NekkidFishExplorerWhen I spoke to the gal at the park, she said that the spots that are above the lake have trees, but there is a drop-off down to the lake ... and then there are the sites that have no trees and are level with the lake. Hope that makes sense.
- mockybirdExplorerI think that "above the lake" means the side farthest away from the ocean.
- NorskemanExplorerYou will enjoy your stay - we go there every spring for two weeks. We like to get a close to the ocean as we can - shorter walk to the beach.
The lake sites are nice though. - TerryallanExplorer II

Yes the ocean front sites at the South end near the restaurant can and will flood at high tide. The waves appeared to actually break thru the opening in the sand dune. the sites on the oceanfront at the North End do not.
Still in all. It is one of the nicer Myrtle Beach CGs. Super clean heated, and AC, bath houses. Huge pull thru sites, with picnic shelters, and you can walk to Apache Pier. Also close to restaurant row, Tanger, and Barefoot landing. - NekkidFishExplorerI just booked it, and I am sooooooo freakin excited! We haven't been on vacation since 2008!
I booked a spot on the lake, at the lakes edge.
We will be staying at Mama Gertie's in Asheville on the way there, and on the way back.
Both places look amazing!! Woot, woot! Wiggle, wiggle! - wbwoodExplorerHaven't stayed there, but drove through and was told that the sites close to be beach can sometimes flood...

I stayed in site 709 and it was right on the lake.
Be aware that there are a couple of crocs in the lake so watch the little kids and the dogs.
Thanks D&M .... From the looks of your pics, were you on the upper level sites, that sit up above the lake?
I don't quite know what above the lake means. They all looked like they were on the same level to me. But here's a map of the campground.. You can check out the location of 709
