Palm Springs Campgrounds or RV park

Hubby and I are looking for a full hook-up campground/RV park in Palm Springs for a day or two on our way home from dry camping in Quartzsite, AZ. We are under 55 (not by much) and not interested in membership resorts. We have done some research but haven't found the ideal place (and some have the 55+ age restriction). We typically like natural campground like settings but since we want full hook-ups, we are willing to compromise. Any of you wise and experienced folks have any suggestions? Thanks so much!
  • Depending on what you consider a "natural campground", you won't find much in the Palm Springs area. Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert etc. etc. is known for golf and shopping not 'natural' camping. Anything north of I-10 will be in the windy side so try to avoid those in Desert Hot Springs. We prefer, Motorcoach Country Club, MCC, but understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Desert Shores, DS, is another but they don't allow pets, so if you're traveling with yours, that one is out...

Providing more info as far as what you consider 'natural' might bring more campgrounds tailored to your tastes.....Dennis
  • We stayed a night here in 2011, Lake Cahuilla County Park CG, Riverside County Park in the Indio/La Quinta area. Sites have water & electric with a dump station available. $23. per night in Nov. 2011. Dick
  • Depending upon where home is, Lake Skinner near Temecula would be perfect. Midweek it is pretty much deserted. And very nice. (I think it is only 30 amp though.). Very close to the wineries. Gate is locked at night. Avoid it on weekends as it often becomes party central.
  • We are currently at Indian Waters; our third time here and this time for 6 weeks. I believe it is age restricted but not sure (not an issue with us!)

We have been down to Lake Cahuilla a few times to just wander around some and walk around the lake. It is a nice place; nothing fancy, but certainly adequate - it leans more to the campground end vs resort end.

    Either would be just fine.
