- TANDDANDBIGEExplorerWOW! Lots of info. Thank you all; now I just have to come up with a plan of what and where. This trip should have us there about May 30 or so. The wealth of info you folks have and share is awesome. THX TB
- frmAlohaExplorerWe enjoyed our stay at the Comstock in Carson City. It's an easy drive from there to both Virginia City and Lake Tahoe.
- missourijanExplorerWe used to live in Sparks, so we are familiar with most parks. For easy access the Grand Sierra rv park is best, flat and wide streets, right off I 80. We stayed at Shamrock last year and it's a little tight but ok for a big rig. Bordertown is a little too far north and Gold Ranch is a little too far west, in my opinion. Other posters suggestions for activities are good. My son lives in Truckee, just over the state line in CA, there's a cute downtown area there. From Truckee take Hwy 267 south down to Lake Tahoe. Take the 341 back to south Reno (over MT Rose Hwy). OR go further south and take Hwy 50 back to Carson City and see that quaint town then back north to Reno. That's a full day trip. OR you can go further south in Lake Tahoe to Hwy 206, that comes into Minden. All good options in a vehicle, not an rv.
- sweetnoniExplorerJust googled it, Gold Dust West.
- sweetnoniExplorerWe stayed in a hotel/casino rv park on the edge of Carson City last September. It was right off the new freeway,580.Believe it was at the junction 580/50.It was on the southwest corner of that junction. My brother in law lives there and he pointed us to it. He also took us to a nice museum downtown in Carson City, and of course, there is Virginia City. There also is an old time street in Dayton the next town east of CC. I wish I could remember the name of the casino. Anyway, it was easy in and out, and concreted level pads. FHU, laundry, and relatively quiet for the location.

- GottahaveitModeratorWe stay at the Grand Sierra in Reno every year for Street Vibrations. As Far as Tahoe goes "Campground by the Lake" is by far our favorite campground in CA. We spend atleast a few weeks there every year. Be sure to check for availability as they are very busy during the summer.
- ramyankeeExplorerWe have stayed at Bordertown on 395. Nice park. Also have stayed at Grand Sierra and Rivers Edge. We might prefer Rivers Edge BUT there can be noise from the planes coming and going from the airport.
We have thought about the Marina but they had the age rule on RVS and ours is way over their limit. - lizzieExplorerAnother vote for Sparks Marina. We are state park, national forest type campers but we have family in Reno and spend a week or two there every other year. lizzie
- fireman93514ExplorerWe also like Gold ranch. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the city in a more rural setting. Close to town. We also have used Grand Sierra resort. It was very nice as well.
There are many thing to see in the area. The national automobile museum is interesting. Virginia city for an old west mining town. Touristy but fun and a number of historic sites to see. You can also take a train ride there. In Carson City there is the state capitol, The museum which is in the old mint building, and the state railroad museum. Lake Tahoe is an easy and scenic drive.
