Texas beach RV'ng

Mustang Island, the city park at Port Aransas or the state park, are what first come to mind, but neither has "ocean view" from a campsite. At the city park you are sort of on the inlet and in the state park, over the first row of dunes from the actual shore.

Seeing the ocean and not being in the sand are inconsistent with the geomorphology of the Texas Gulf Coast barrier islands. They are not stable, the sand is still moving any place where you can see the Gulf water.

Galveston Island Beach state park gets you really close to the beach, but you will still be parking your RV well away from the high water line.

City Park, Port Lavaca, is on a bay. Nice park with all hookups.

If one can see Russia from Wasilla AK then one can see the ocean from the Texas coast.

Mustang Island State Park just south of Port A is another option. It's off the beach a bit and the spaces are a bit close together but I'd imagine you will be spending most of the day outside the camper so that shouldn't matter. Wash ever square inch of your trailer frame when you return from your trip...that salt water and mist is corrosive.

Thanks. I was thinking Port Aransas from what I could see on the web. We're not planning on parking in the sand - looking for a nice RV park for 3 or 4 days. BTW - ha ha ha - I know the difference between an ocean and a gulf - I'm classified as 'highly qualified' to teach high school geography in Tx.

No way would I take my rv on the beach. If you are lucky enough to not get stuck the salt spray will rust everything that is not protected.

The beach at Port Aransas is a good choice.
