Walt Disneyworld Area park advice?

There is also a KOA in Davenport that has a `free' shuttle to Disney. The quotes are because we tipped the driver.

We stayed at Tropical Palms in March and were pleasantly surprised. We've stayed at Fort Wilderness before and were concerned about what to expect but it was very nice. They have a pool that serves snacks and drinks (adult style as well). Can walk to Old Towne which is a neat little place. We were also able to walk to a mini golf (a nice one, not dumpy) and to Joe's Crab Shack. I would recommend the premium black top or cement sites. The grass sites can be quite unlevel (we stayed on one).

I also have stayed at Tropical Palms.. I would stay there again if Disney were full......

Just did a quick check and there are still Premium sites at Fort Wilderness for 11/1 - 11/7. More dates may be available. May be worth checking the web site or calling (407-WDISNEY)

Keep TELEPHONING Disney reservations, Much better than doing it on line or through a travel agent. Sept, Oct and early Nov are not prime times at Fort Wilderness. Weekends, Fri and Sat nights book up faster with the Florida locals. Start trying your first night on Sun or Mon, once you get your foot in the door, call back regularly to add more days, till you get what you want.

We have stayed at Fort Summit/Orlando SW KOA, which is in Davenport many times. Also literally right beside KOA, is Themeworld resort. Both have similar amenities (except Disney Shuttle). Themeworld is a Passport America park and they give the 50% off 365 days a year. Last Feb we paid $27 a night.

We like Themeworld much better than the KOA there. Last time at that KOA/Davenport (they also advertise Main Gate but are not near the Main Gate) there were dozens of cats that would not leave you alone.

The KOA in Kissimmee is corporate owned and so much nicer than the one in Davenport.

If you have time and the budget buy annual passes. There are four major parks plus so much more to see like Downtown Disney or just visiting some of the Resort hotels. If you stay at the Fort there are free shuttle buses and boats to take you anywhere you want to go.
