- GeoBoyExplorerWe went mid-June, before the children go on summer break, it was very nice.
- jalichtyExplorerAnytime is the best time to go. As said above, spring is great with the emerging flowers and trees, new babies, etc. Summer is great just for being there and fall is also great. We have taken two snowmobile trips in the winter and it's also a wonderful experience. So, once again, anytime is the best time to go.
- RCMAN46ExplorerI have been to Yellowstone many times and at all times of the year.
It has never been what I would call hot. July and August have average highs in the 75°F range. Lows in the 40°F range. Most of the time had to turn on the furnace in the mornings.
I prefer late June as most of the snow is gone and the young animals are out and about. - BusskipperExplorer

I would say First part of October - after spending the last week in September in Colorado watching the Aspen Change - little less crowded and a slight chance you will need to work around a snow storm but truly Beautiful in October (snow is not a Bad thing in Yellowstone - just look at the Old Faithful webcam).
JMHO, - n7bsnExplorerI used to live in the area.
Hot, honestly hot? Sometimes, others.... well one July 4th weekend we had a snowball fight made from snow that had fallen the night before
But I prefer the "non-Touron" season, that is spring and fall. Never "over the holidays" in winter and never from July to August. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIJune or September for us.
- jk31668Exploreryou are at a very high altitude thus there has been some snow in mid july although rare
- Mr__CamperExplorerOur favorite is mid-May to late June. Animals are abundant and hungry, still lot of snow on the ground and not many tourists.
- CroweExplorerEarly June has babies. September has racks. Any time after mid-August through mid-end of September. Kids are in school, weather decent.
- WyoTravelerExplorerLate May snow could be a problem. June good. You will see more wild life in June. Hot summer you see wild life but t gets hot fo them to wander around. Late fall also good. Way too many tourists in July and August. We did a daily drive up in August for lunch and see old faithful and it was crowded.
