Which park

Already thinking about next spring trip. This year is already mucked up. We want to head out in the spring & simply can't fit in in this year.
We want to go to either Huntington Beach SP, Hunting Island SP or Edisto Beach SP. Which of the three would you camp & why?
We have a 2' class c and only need 30 amp. Anything else is a plus.
  • Any one of those would be a good spot. We prefer Huntington Beach as the new section is all full hookups and some of the old section is also. The attractions for us are the bird watching, beach combing and the amount we can bicycle without leaving the park. New section is less spacious but not badly done. Old section is roomier but more rustic. We are SC seniors so it costs very little to camp in our state parks and we have enjoyed many of them. Lake Greenwood is another beautiful park although not at the beach. Enjoy your trip!
  • Huntington has the best beach, probably best in SC. It it is huge. It is close to MB if you are in to that type of thing.

Edisto is known for the shells. Two campgrounds. One along the beach, the other about a mile away and you travel a state road to get their. Neither has full hookups. The one dump station is on the state road, not in either of the campgrounds.

Hunting Island is beautiful but the ocean is claiming the island back. They have lost about 80 campsites to the ocean. When walking the beach at lower tides you can see remnants of the lost campsites.
  • Thanks a bunch pbeverly. Super good information. Appreciate it.
  • I haven't been to the other 2, but have been to Huntington Beach. It has open and shaded sites. Some are water and electric, some are full hookup. It's a short walk to the beach. They have a store and great nature programs both in the Nature Lodge and outside. We were there over Christmas and they even had a nature program Christmas Day. It's just south of Murrel's Inlet were there are some good restaurants. We enjoyed Drunken Jack's.
  • Hunting Island had suffered from hurricanes the last time we were there. We decided to pass on going there any more. A few of the road in the CG are gone along with large amount of the beach. I know of twice they dredged and rebuilt the beach, but the island was built the same way it is getting washed away. Great place back 10-15 years ago.
