Roofing Issues, Solutions

I bought a 1970 12ft Tin Can camper last week and now starting to repair the roof. The roof is original. Its dented, leaking and rusting. It is dented due to the roof supports rotting out and created areas fro water to pool and collect. I want to eliminate all the vents from the roof as well because i have taking all the plumbing out.

My thoughts on the roof was wood with a rubber roof kit, a metal roof or the asphalt/rubber roof panels from local hardware store. I just finished a job and as payment i was given a new car port kit that had damaged leg supports but a perfect roof with metal roof panels, could i use the metal roof panels for the roof? They are 12 ft long and would fit perfect.

The only reason im leaning toward metal or the rubbery panels is because i will be using it for off grid camping and worried about tree branches and stuff.

This is my first attempt at a camper, i just need to get out of my tent :)

Any help or knowledge would be greatly appreciated!
