Sleep Number Bed

Looking to install our Sleep Number bed from the S&B into our Alfa. I know the pump will fit under the bed and how to place the hoses. I'm interested if anyone's done this before and if they had any tips to make it go easier.

Thanks in Advance
  • Took the one from our house in 2011 and installed in our MobileSuites when we started full timing. Transferred to 16 MS and still going strong.

Drill or cut holes 3-4" round or square to be sure the hoses don't rub.
  • I installed a brand new Sleep Number RV King in my 5'er 7 years ago. It is still going strong and was a darn site easier to install that it was to remove the original one which I burned after removal.
  • I had a sleep number in my 5th wheel for quite a while.
I placed the pump in the storage area under the bed and drilled hole at the head to rout hoses thru.
    Loved it.
UNTIL.... I forgot to deflate a bit before going into elevation around Mammoth Mountain in Calif on 395.
It pressurized like a potato chip bag. When I stopped for a break, and noticed it, the pressure was so high, that the pump would not work to relieve pressure. Had to disconnect each hose to do so.
That night after re-inflating, I found that the over pressure had torn away inner lining and now one of the mattresses was just a big-ol balloon. :S

So, just be aware of your travel routes and make sure you deflate quite a bit before heading up those grades.
  • Thanks to all of you for the positive comments. I do worry about altitude issues, we're at 4500 ft now and regularly go over 6000 for the weekend.

I would also consider putting "rubber" grommets in whatever size holes are drilled/needed to minimize damaging damage. :)
